Just before the 2008 recession, we were living the high life, or so we thought. I was in construction sales, making a good living and my wife Anna was a teacher. Although our income was healthy, our financial situation was far from it. We were deep in debt and the financial stress in our marriage was reaching a breaking point. When the market crashed in 2008 we found ourselves completely unprepared and desperate for help. Our church was offering a Financial Peace University class and it changed our lives and saved our marriage. We learned how to manage our finances, but more than that, we learned how to communicate. We began to talk openly about our financial decisions. We were talking and dreaming together instead of fighting over money. In 6 ½ years we paid off all the debt and built up an emergency fund. I became passionate about sharing our story and helping other families find financial freedom. I began leading Financial Peace University and coaching couples and families helping them get out of debt, protect their income, and plan for the future. We found that financial freedom is not having to worry about what may come our way, because we have a strong financial foundation that can stand up under whatever life may bring. My goal is to help others build their own strong financial foundation.
I am married to my high school sweetheart. We have two amazing sons who keep us very active. We live on the coast of South Carolina, so we enjoy our time on the beach during the summer, but our favorite get-away is the time we spend camping in the upstate of South Carolina.
