Dave Ramsey Smart Conference

My wife and I had the privilege of attending Dave Ramsey’s Smart Conference in Dallas last Saturday. It was an all-star cast of speakers at the Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie Texas. Hosted by Ken Coleman the acclaimed interviewer and host of the The Dave Ramsey Video Channel and top-rated EntreLeadership Podcast.

Award winning author Les Parrott PHD started the conference talking about Marriage and “How to Fight a Good Fight”. Then it was on to Dr. Henry Cloud the author of the best-selling series “Boundaries” to talk about “Necessary Endings”. Dr Cloud focused on how Pain is un-avoidable but many people spend their entire lives trying to avoid it. Much like pruning a rose bush our lives would flourish if we can decide which things in life that we need to cut out to keep us focused on what matters most.

Smart Conference 9After Dr. Cloud, Dr. Meg Meeker the author of six books including best-selling Strong Fathers and Strong Daughters delivered an inspirational discussion called “Stop Worrying and Start Parenting”. “We must always let our children know that our job is to teach and help them through life. One of the best ways we can do this is by being open and honest when it comes to tough talks” Dr. Meeks explained. She went on to say that “The most important two changes that any parent can make in order to have a happier and more successful child is to Simplify schedules and spend more time with the child”.

Dave Ramsey himself spoke after the lunch break to talk about Smart Money and the five steps it takes to win financially. Dave also released his new, free budgeting tool, EveryDollar Go to to learn more about it. Chris Hogan followed Dave and talked about Retirement. Chris discussed how Retirement is an “Opportunity” and not a “Chance”. Check out Chris at

Michael Jr., hailed as one of today’s most gifted comedians, cracked up the audience with his two sessions. Michael Jr. is a man comfortable on any stage with material clean enough to work in churches and funny enough to work in clubs.
